Name: Little Jim’s, Boystown
Age: 45
Address: 3501 N Halsted St
Type: Bar
Being popularly considered Chicago’s “Gay Cheers”, Little Jim’s held the mantle as the first gay bar in Boystown and the second-oldest gay bar in Chicago. This long-running
establishment had long been considered a safe place for all. When it first opened, it was considered a “mixed” bar that catered to all sexualities. In recent years, it maintained its reputation for inclusivity by bucking the trend that many other gay bars on the street followed which was to explicitly prohibit music from the Black and Latino communities. Little Jim’s continued to proudly allow these genres of music to play as a signal to welcome all.
