Vieques

Vieques is a raw, remote escape. Wild horses roam freely and the beaches look like something out of a dream. It’s the kind of place where you can forget everything, yet half the island still carries the ghost of its military past. For decades, the east end of the island was used by the U.S. Navy and Air Force as a bombing range. You’d never guess it by the white sand and calm waters, but Vieques is a place that’s seen its fair share of scars, and yet still manages to hold onto its tropical charm.
